Mario Badescu Drying Lotion vs Kate Somerville Eradikate, Which is Better?

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion vs Kate Somerville Eradikate
I've been saying this a lot in my recent posts, but yes...I've been stressed out lately. Which means that I have definitely been breaking out. I felt like my skin was starting to get bad again so I knew that I needed to step up my skincare routine as well as fix up my eating habits. There's a lot of talk surrounding the Mario Badescu drying lotion so I decided to give it a try and see how good it is compared to my Kate Somerville Eradikate. The winner of the two? Well...

Let's just say that my expectations for the Mario Badescu drying lotion was really high because of all the hype it's been getting. I've had my Kate Somerville Eradikate for a while now and I really like. But I decided to change things up because my recent break outs weren't going away with this, and I think it's because I had cystic breakouts. Cystic breakouts are breakouts that are deep under your skin which is different than the typical pimple.

So I knew that when comparing these two treatments I had to put them on actual breakout spots and not the cystic ones. The difference between the two?

  • The Mario Badescu one was very dry, as soon as I applied it onto my skin it dried right away and even started to crack/crumble all over my face. I would find dried up pink pieces on places I didn't even apply them to. There was one morning when I woke up with this and realized that it cracked all over near my eyes which was horrible! I learned to not apply this anywhere near my eyes again.
  • I also found that the Mario Badescu drying lotion didn't do much for my pimple, but the Kate Somerville did make it get smaller.
  • The Kate Somerville Eradikate retails for $24 and the Mario Badescu drying lotion retails for $17. Does the $7 difference make me want to pick the Mario Badescu as the winner?
  • They both have the same pink color, and is applied the same way. You have to dip a q-tip into the bottle (make sure you don't shake the product) in order to get the pink at the bottom then put it onto the spot.

In conclusion, I am going to stick to my Kate Somerville Eradikate treatment. I have returned the Mario Badescu drying lotion because I really don't like how flaky it gets on my skin. Not sure if I got a defective one or something because everyone else seems to really love it. I have really oily skin so I'm not sure why it gets really crumbly/dry on my skin. I highly recommend the Kate Somerville Eradikate, it's great for my sensitive skin as well.
